Hoaglin-Jackson grads gather for banquet

VW independent/submitted information

On July 9, graduates of the former Hoaglin-Jackson School met for an alumni banquet at Trinity Friends Church. Sixty-seven people attended.

Appetizers were served, followed by dinner. Black Angus on Main in Van Wert catered the event and the dinner included appetizers, a choice of a beef or chicken dinner, and coffee and cake following the meal.

The Class of 1960, the last class to graduate from Hoaglin-Jackson, hosted the banquet. Prior to the meal, Sally Snyder welcomed everyone and Neil Hammons gave the opening prayer. The other members of the committee — Linda Gamble and Terry and Beverly Berryman — were introduced. There was a moment of silence in remembrance of alumni who have passed away.

The graduating class of 1956 was celebrating its 60th anniversary during the evening.

Games were played and prizes given. It was voted that the same committee, with the addition of 1960 graduate Patricia Hoersten, would plan the alumni banquet next year.
