It’s been 11 years since Eaton served as the United Way pacesetter. During that time, the employees and Eaton Corporation have contributed just over $1 million to the Van Wert community, making it not only one of the largest employers in the county, but one of the most generous contributors to United Way of Van Wert County.

Eaton has a long and proud history of community service with its collective willingness to help its neighbors through both financial support and volunteerism. Eaton’s support of United Way dates back 100 years — nearly to the founding of the company — and today the employee giving program clearly demonstrates the philosophy of “Doing Business Right”.

Across the organization, Eaton is a leader in community involvement, but it’s the countless individual acts of the employees that drive that leadership.

Employees of the Van Wert plant have demonstrated their support of United Way in previous years through various fundraisers within the plant, including raffles, food events, and bake sales. The employees also support the annual Day of Caring Food Drive and the West Ohio Food Bank Day of Caring food distribution.

With the support of other local businesses, Eaton has also been able to sponsor a Bag Bingo event for the last six years, with the proceeds supporting the United Way, and employees at the local plant look forward to continuing this tradition again this year.

Eaton employees say they are looking forward to encouraging other Van Wert businesses to join in the support of the United Way campaign.
