2016 Wren Homecoming info released

WREN — The 2016 Wren Homecoming celebration this coming weekend will include a number of events and activities, including the 25th edition of the popular Wiffleball Tournament at Wrenway Park.

The celebration begins at 5 p.m. Friday, August 19, when the food and beverage garden opens in Wrenway Park. A Cruise-In will be held from 5-9 that evening at the Wren Ballpark. Opening ceremonies will be held for the Wiffleball Tournament at 5:30 p.m., with Moe Davis throwing out the first pitch at 5:50 to start the popular tourney.
Registration for the lawn mower drag races will be held at 5 Friday evening, with the races beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. A reverse raffle will be held at 6:45 p.m. Friday, while a homerun derby will be held at 9:45 a.m., with live music by Hypnotix at Wrenway Park from 9 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Friday.
Saturday’s activities begin at 7 a.m. with a pancake and sausage breakfast held at the Wren Fire Station. The breakfast will run until 11 Saturday morning.
Inflatables and a dunk tank will be available from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, while the ballpark food tent and grill and food and beverage garden open at 11 that morning.
Registration for basket bingo will begin at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, with bingo to begin at noon. The Rib Cook-Off and Rib Sale will also begin at noon.
Line-up and judging for the annual Wren Homecoming Parade will begin at 2 p.m., with the parade held at 4 p.m. Saturday.
There will be no parking along Ohio 49 or East Jackson Street after 11 a.m. Saturday so that spectators can enjoy the parade. Parking is available at Wren Ballpark. Also, in addition to an emcee at Moser Park for the parade, there will also be a second emcee at the corner of Ohio 49 and Jackson Street.
The Junior Wiffleball championship game will be held at 5:40 p.m. at Wrenway Park, while the Homecoming Queen Contest and prize drawing will start at 6:05 p.m. at the Wren Ballpark.
The Wren Ballpark Association will hand out player awards at 6:15 p.m. at the ballpark, while the Homerun Derby championship will take place at 8:50 p.m. Saturday at Wrenway Park.
The 25th anniversary Hall of Fame inaugural ceremony will be held at Wrenway Park at 9 p.m. Saturday, while the Wiffleball Tournament championship game will follow at 9:30 p.m.
