Semi overturns

This semi was westbound on U.S. 30, about 1½ mile east of U.S. 127, when a tire blew on the tractor (above), which was hauling a hydraulic crane. The blowout caused the driver to veer into the median and then into oncoming eastbound traffic, where he narrowly avoided hitting another tractor-trailer rig head-on. The semi then went off the south side of the highway and overturned. Approximately 50 gallons each of diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid, plus engine oil, spilled onto the ground and Van Wert County EMA Director Rick McCoy requested a crew from Fort Wayne, Indiana, handle the cleanup. Investigating the crash was the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, assisted by Middle Point Fire & EMS, Parker & Mace Towing, and the county Emergency Management Agency.
