Lancer boy runners 1st, girls 3rd at WT

HAVILAND — The Lincolnview Lancer cross country teams competed in the Wayne Trace Invitational on Tuesday night. The boys dominated the field, winning the meet by over 40 points and placing their top five runners in the top 12 of the race. The girls’ team placed third overall, taking home their first trophy of the season.

The boys were led by Karter Tow, who placed fourth overall in a season best time of 17:32. He was followed by teammates Jacob Keysor, who was seventh (17:59); Tracey West, eighth (18:01); Austin Elick, ninth (18:08); and Alek Bowersock, 12th (18:17).  Rounding out the top seven were Ryan Rager, 36th; and Devon Bill, 38th.

“The boys really fought hard tonight; we wanted to work on our pack and we accomplished that in this race,” said Lincolnview Head Coach Matt Langdon. “I think they are set up to run fast times this weekend. A lot of our boys dropped time from Saturday’s race and I liked how we responded to adversity.”

The girls were led by Rylee Byrne, who placed seventh overall in a time of 22:13. She was followed by teammate Tori Snyder, who placed 10th (22:24); Alena Looser, who placed 14th (22:50); Abbie Enyart, 17th (23:21); and Kaylee Hobbs, 47th (25:59). Rounding out the varsity were Miah Katalenas (51st) and Ryanne Ducheney (52nd).

“The girls set the tone for the meet; they went out and raced great and showed a tremendous amount of courage,” Coach Langdon said. “I am so proud of these young ladies and it is great to see how they are not allowing injuries to define their season. They are finding ways to overcome and I am glad to see them take home their first trophy.”
