Photo Club helps with Fair photography exhibit

By Rex Dolby

On entry day at the County Fair, The Van Wert Area Photography Club was able to muster four people to work the entire 1-5 p.m. shift and three more who worked part of the time taking in the photographs for this year’s Photography Exhibit.

Statistically, this year was quite a bit different from the previous two years.  Fifty-four people turned in 311 pictures last year and 58 photographers submitted 220 photos in 2014.  On Sunday, August 28, club members braced for a busy afternoon. However, it actually was fairly even-paced with 30 entrants bringing 176 pictures for judging.

Everyone used a picture frame with an 8×10 or smaller opening, which is the way it should be.  However, having wire to hang the picture and entry tags to indicate the owner and class continued to be a problem for some.

Photo classes in both color and black and white for juniors and seniors are: Through the Window, Celebrating Nature, Food Lovers, Celebrating Shapes, and Four Elements. The photos will be on display till Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Anyone wishing to purchase a picture should leave their contact information, the number on the frame, and a description of the photo (two might be entered by the same person) at the photography table. We’ll contact the photographer with your information so the photographer can contact the potential buyer.

Although the display is not as large as previous years, there are still a lot of outstanding photos to appreciate, so don’t miss it.
