Cougars compete at WBL Track Meet

KENTON – Van Wert’s Megan Braun, Blake Henry, and Brandon Hernandez each claimed individual first place finishes, and two relay teams that featured Braun also captured titles at Friday’s Western Buckeye League Track and Field Championship Meet.

Braun won the WBL long jump title (16-11), while Henry won the league’s high jump championship (6-3). Hernandez won the 300 meter hurdle title, with a time of 40.62 seconds.

Braun, Caylee Phillips, Cassidy Meyers, and Emma Kohn,  won the 4×200 meter relay championship (1:47.92), while Phillips, Braun, Meyers, and Nicole Clay raced to the 4×400 meter relay title (4:08.20)

Celina won the boys and girls WBL team titles. The Van Wert boys finished fourth, while the girls finished fifth.
