Carl L. Hattery
Carl L. Hattery, 87, of Van Wert, died at 7:28 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

He was born March 11, 1930, in Hicksville, the son of Addison Hays Hattery and Maude Gamble, who both preceded him in death. On October 18, 1969, he married the former J. Eleanore Williams, who also preceded him in death.
Carl is survived by a daughter, Valerie K. Hattery; a stepson, David (Rose) Myers of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Jerald Myers, Kenneth Myers, Robert Myers, Edward Myers, and David Myers Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He retired in 1994 from GKN Sinter Metals in Van Wert after 26 years of service. Carl was a veteran of the United States Army-Airborne Division. He was member, past sergeant-at-arms and past second vice president of American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert; a member of the Van Wert Masonic Lodge; a former member of the SPEBSQA and barbershop chorus The Northwesternaires. He also performed in the Van Wert Civic Theatre productions of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and The Music Man. He was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, where he also sang in the church choir.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 26, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 25, at the funeral home.
