Etzler scores 23, Knights top Lima CC

CONVOY — The Crestview Knights rolled to their seventh consecutive win with a 67-39 non-conference victory over Lima Central Catholic on Friday.

Javin Etzler scored seven of his game high 23 points in the opening quarter, and the Knights led 12-6 entering the second period. The 6-7 junior poured in 13 more in the second stanza, including three treys and Crestview enjoyed a 34-21 halftime lead.

Any hopes of a Lima Central Catholic (5-11) rally were squashed in the third quarter. The Knights held the Thunderbirds to just eight points, while scoring 16 themselves.

Crestview also won the fourth quarter scoring battle 17-10.

In addition to Etzler’s 23 points and 11 rebounds, Jace Vining scored 13 and Derek Stout added 10 points.

As a team, Crestview was 22 of 48 (46 percent) from the floor and 15 of 19 (79 percent) from the foul line. The Knights pulled down 30 rebounds, compared to 21 for the Thunderbirds.

Lima Central Catholic was 15 of 42 from the floor (36 percent) and 7 of 11 (64 percent) from the free throw line.

Crestview (11-3, 4-0 NWC) will travel to Celina tonight, then will play at Lincolnview next Friday.
