James E. Coombs

James E. Coombs, 73, of Convoy, died at 2:06 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

He was born January 22, 1945, in Waterford, Michigan, the son of Derward Jacob and Madge Marie (McCollum) Coombs, who both preceded him in death. On August 14, 1965, he married the former Terry E. Longwell and she survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Amber R. (Christopher Handy) Coombs of Convoy; a son, Jamie D. (Danielle Ripley) Coombs of Payne; two brothers, Daniel Coombs of Pontiac, Michigan, and Dean Coombs of Greenbush, Michigan; a brother-in-law, David (Karen) Longwell of Florida; five grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

A brother, Ronald Coombs, also preceded him in death.

There will be private services for the family.

Preferred memorials: Vancrest Health Care Activity Fund or the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
