Young Artists Recital coming this Sunday

While student athletes often are recognized for their abilities, student musicians rarely get the spotlight, unless it’s a choir or band concert.

The Van Wert County Foundation provides a showcase for Van Wert County’s most talented student musicians during its 15th annual Young Artists Recital, to be held this Sunday.

Student musicians from Van Wert, Lincolnview, and Crestview high schools have been recommended to perform at this prestigious event based on their performances and ratings at the recent Ohio Music Education Association’s Solo & Ensemble contest held at St. Marys Memorial High School.

First United Methodist Church in Van Wert will once again host this event, which begins at 3 p.m. this Sunday, February 4, and is free and open to the public.

The recital consists of solo vocal, instrumental, and piano performances, as well as instrumental and vocal ensembles. This annual event provides students from local high schools the opportunity to hear each other, as well as provide the public an opportunity to hear these talented students from all three high schools in Van Wert County.

This event began in 2004 and has become an annual event since then. Students who have performed in this recital have gone on to become professional musicians, music teachers, and have many other accomplished careers in professional fields.

Doors to the public will open at 2 p.m.  Please use the Central Avenue or Jefferson Street entrances to the church.
