Van Wert Lady Cougars defeat Elida

ELIDA — The Lady Cougars captured their second straight Western Buckeye League win with a 54-50 road win over Elida on Thursday night.

The game was tight throughout, with Van Wert holding an 11-8 lead after one quarter and Elida enjoying a 23-21 advantage at halftime. Van Wert led 36-35 after three quarter, then outscored the hosts 18-15 in the final quarter.

Abby Jackson and Reagan Priest each scored 13 for the Lady Cougars, while Cassidy Meyers finished with 10 points.

The victory improved Van Wert’s overall record to 6-12 (2-5 WBL), while Elida fell to 6-12 (2-5 WBL).
