With the recent release of information on the formation of the Van Wert County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), the Van Wert community is already responding, with businesses contacting the EMA Office advising they are wanting to partner with the local program.
Walmart employees (in photo at right) recently donated a television and laptop computer to CERT to be used for training purposes and disaster response plus office supplies. Additional donations received include emergency response gear and some office furniture from the Van Wert Fire department.

Other area businesses that have stepped forward to assist CERT and emergency responders include McDonald’s, Burger King, Subway, and the Pak-A-Sak convenience stores.
Both EMA Director Rick McCoy and CERT Disaster Chairman Mark Klausing said they have been very impressed with the response in the community to provide assistance in starting up CERT.
“It always amazes me to see the community support our emergency responders,” said Klausing.
Individuals or businesses wishing to donate and support the program may contact McCoy at 419.238.1300.
