Eligible families offered heating cost help

Winter heating assistance is being offered to Van Wert County residents. Due to the extremely low temperatures experienced in December and January, those eligible households residing in Van Wert County responsible for their heating costs can receive a $150 payment payable to the provider.
Those applying must have a minor child, while at least one adult in the household must be employed a minimum of 20 hours per week or receiving disability. The household’s gross monthly income must be at or below 200 percent of the current Federal Poverty Guideline.
This is not a disconnect program and the Van Wert County Department of Job and Family Services cannot guarantee the avoidance of a disconnect or interruption of service.
This program is effective February 1 through March 29. Applications are currently available at the agency and can be turned in now. All applications must be received in the agency by 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29. The County Department of Job and Family Services is located at 114 E. Main St. in Van Wert.
