Cheryl A. McPhail

Cheryl A. McPhail, 70, of Van Wert, passed away at 9:36 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born July 27, 1947, in Van Wert, the daughter of Bertram E. and Zelma L. (Harter) Crates, who both preceded her in death. On August 17, 1974, she married Robert F. McPhail, who survives.

Other survivors include her two sons, Dennis “Lynn” (Margaret) Wilhelm of Hanford, California, and Robert (Alisa) Wilhelm of Ohio City; a sister, Sue (Dana) McClure of Mansfield; a stepson, Robert D. (Chris) McPhail of Van Wert; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Philip, Robert, Katelyn, Justin, Kaylee and Nick; and two great grandchildren, Liam and Finn.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Norman Crates.

Cheryl was a graduate of Lincolnview High School and attended Grace Community Church in Bryan. She had worked at Fishers Big Wheel, Heck’s, Purmort Bros. Insurance and Walmart in Van Wert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Michael Kelly of Grace Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, and an hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
