Lady Lancers are sectional champions

PAULDING — Lincolnview clamped down defensively in the fourth quarter, and the Lady Lancers held on to defeat Northwest Conference rival Delphos Jefferson 35-33 in the lower bracket Division IV sectional championship game at Paulding High School on Saturday night.

Lincolnview (12-12) held the Wildcats to just three points in the final period, and used late foul shots by Sierra Adams and Olivia Gorman to break a 33-33 tie and secure the victory.

The two teams found themselves deadlocked at 11 after the first quarter, and Lincolnview led 24-20 at halftime. Delphos Jefferson outscored the Lady Lancers 10-6 in the third quarter and the game was tied at 30 entering the fourth quarter.

Lincolnview’s Maddie Gorman led all scorers with 14 points, while Alena Looser and Lakin Brant each finished with six. Alli McClurg led Delphos Jefferson with 12 points.

The Lady Lancers (12-12) will play second ranked Ottoville in the district semifinals at Elida on at 8 p.m. on Thursday night. It’s a rematch of an early season game won by Ottoville 47-23.
