Bonnie (Christener) Burger, 87, of Convoy, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018, at her residence.

She was born Friday, March 7, 1930, in Adams County, Indiana, the daughter of John Christener and Della (James) Christener, who both preceded her in death. On May 23, 1948 in Zanesville, Indiana, she married John M. Burger and he died November 30, 1992.

Bonnie was a 1948 graduate of Monroe (Indiana) High School and was employed at Walmart in Decatur, Indiana, from 1991 to 2016. She had also worked at Decatur Industries & International Harvester in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was a member of Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert, where she had previously served on the Ministry Administration Council, taught Sunday school, and was active in the Ladies Fellowship Circle. Bonnie went on several church work trips and worked in the food pantry at her church. She was also a life member of the United Brethren Missionary Society.

She loved the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed going to all of her grandchildren’s sporting events. Bonnie was known as a great cook, especially homemade cookies, noodles, and hoagies. She loved to entertain at home and enjoyed her card parties.

Survivors include four sons, Lester M. (Pam) Burger of Coldwater, Michigan, Mark A. (Laura) Burger of Rockford, Ray A. (Rochelle) Burger of Ohio City, and David A. (Brenda) Burger of Van Wert; three daughters, Louann M. (Doug) Corbin of Lyons, Colorado, and Linda M. (Ben) Wurm and Lanetta M. Heller, both of Decatur; 16 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Her son-in-law, Mark Heller; two brothers, John and Roger Christener; and a sister, Marie Christener, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Greg Rice officiating. Burial will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
