Meth, marijuana found during traffic stop

A driver arrested for a stop sign violation early this morning was found to have a number of drugs in the vehicle he was driving.

Kurt Strukamp, no age listed, of Madison, Indiana, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a felony of the second degree, and misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A fifth-degree felony count of possession of morphine may be sought by the Van Wert County Prosecutor’s Office at the next grand jury session.

When arrested at approximately 2 a.m. this morning in the 600 block of North Race Street, Strukamp was found to be in possession of 86 grams of marijuana and 68 grams of methamphetamine, unofficially, plus miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and some pills identified as morphine, an opium derivative.

The meth has a street value of approximately $2,500, according to the police department.
