Robert L. “Bob” Hoersten, 66, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 26, 2018, at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Van Wert on March 4, 1951, the son of Isidore and Mildred (Schulte) Hoersten, who both preceded him in death.

Bob graduated from Bowling Green State University with the Class of 1973.

Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vickie D. (Maxson) Hoersten of Battle Creek, Michigan; two daughters, Megan R. Hoersten and Kristin (David) Savage; a son, Joshua R. Hoersten; four brothers, Jim, Jack (Sandy), Tom, and Mike (Liz), all of Van Wert; a sister, Mary Ann of Van Wert; and six grandchildren, Aaron, Ethan, Caleb, and Leia Hoersten, and Caden and Kyler Savage.

A brother, Bill, and one sister, Alice, also preceded him in death.

Bob was a very avid collector of model trains and tractors. Bob devoted his life to God, and served him for his entire life. He praised God and thanked him for all the blessings that he had in his life. He loved spending time with his family, and loved making memories with them in his short time on earth.

Bob was employed by Eaton Corporation for 37½ years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. W. Clark Williman officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road in Battle Creek, and from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Brickner Funeral Home.
