Gavin Carter threw a one-hitter and Lincolnview set a new school record for single season wins with Thursday’s 4-1 Northwest Conference baseball win over visiting Paulding.

The Lancers are now 17-3 (7-1 NWC). The previous record was 16-5, set in 1990.
Carter struck out 16 batters and walked just one. Paulding’s only hit and run came in the third inning on a solo shot by Cade McGarvey.
“He pounded the strike zone all night and had great command of his pitches,” Lincolnview head coach Eric Fishpaw said of Carter. “I’m very proud of him for another strong outing.”
Lincolnview scored two runs in the first inning, then tacked two more in the third.
A single by Carter plated Brayden Evans and Jaden Youtsey in the opening inning, then Chayten Overholt scored on an error in the third, then Evans added a run later in the inning.
The Lancers will host Ayersville for Senior Day at 10 a.m. on Saturday, then Lincolnview will await the outcome of next Thursday’s Delphos Jefferson-Crestview game. If the Knights win, Crestview, Lincolnview and Jefferson would finish as tri-champs. If Jefferson wins, the Wildcats will win an outright conference title.
