Tennis: Etter, Hellman pull off upsets

LIMA — Two Van Wert Cougars pulled off upsets during the opening round of the Western Buckeye League tennis tournament at UNOH on Thursday.

At first singles, No. 6 seed Michael Etter upended No. 3 seed Craig Recker of Ottawa-Glandorf 2-6, 7-5, 6-4, and at third singles, No. 5 seed Michael Hellman defeated No. 4 seed C.J. Vanderhorst of St. Marys 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.

The victories mean Etter and Hellman are guaranteed to place in the top four when play resumes at UNOH on Saturday.
