Jeffery Davis

Jeffery Davis, 61, of Van Wert, passed away at 2:53 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born March 10, 1957, in Bryan, the son of Richard Davis and Harriet Straley, who both preceded him in death.

Jeff was an area farrier for 35 years. He married the love of his life, the former Shawnne Riesen, in 1989.

An outdoorsman, Jeff was often hiking, boating, and spending time at their cottage on the Auglaize River. Jeff never knew a stranger and loved to cook and entertain. He and Shawnne also enjoyed traveling together.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Brian Clark and Sue and Barry McDowell; his mother-in-law, Sue Koehler; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Todd Vance, Tara Riesen and Neal Beckman, and Tracy and Rick Fravel; 10 nieces and nephews, Garret McDowell, Codi and Cody Feasby, Eric and Rachael Fravel, Danielle Fravel, Mandy and Matt Clark, and Joel and Lanette Fravel; and five great-nieces and -nephews, Cali and Chase Feasby, Cameron and Wesley Fravel, and Rory Fravel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Jeff Miller presiding. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at the funeral home.
