Elizabeth Anne “Betty” Daeger, 87, of Grover Hill, died at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born September 2, 1930, in Putnam County, the daughter of Louis and Catherine (Fischbach) Hoersten, who both preceded her in death. On April 22, 1950, she married Louis Daeger, who died January 10, 2006.

Survivors include three children, Deborah (David) Wenninger of Haviland, David (Sheri) Daeger of Van Wert, and Douglas (Jean) Daeger of Spencerville, Indiana; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); three brothers, Roger (Julie) Hoersten of Sidney, Harold Hoersten of Van Wert, and John Hoersten of Rockford; a sister, Jeanette Black of Payne; and three sisters-in-law, Madge Hoersten of Rockford, Madelyn Scarbrough of Huntington, Indiana, and Rosemary Price-Scarbrough of Van Wert.

A son, Ronald Daeger; one great-grandson, John Wenninger; three brothers, Eddie (Emma) Hoersten, Ike (Millie) Hoersten, and Bud Hoersten; two sisters, Rita (Monk) Adams and Mary (Russell) Bullinger; a sister-in-law, Nada Hoersten; and one brother-in-law, Fred Black, also preceded her in death.

Betty was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking, baking, and canning. Betty was a Detroit Tigers fan and deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville, with Father Jerome Schetter officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ottoville. 

Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home in Jackson Township, Paulding County, where a scripture service will be held at 1:45 Friday afternoon.
