Gordon G. Finger

Gordon G. Finger, 75, of Van Wert, passed away at 7:03 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1942, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Wilmer F. and Ruth L (Gusler) Finger, who both preceded him in death. He married Doris M. (German) Finger on January 18,1971, and she survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include his children, Kendra Roxo and Tavia Bish of Lima, Darci (Chad) Wistner of Jonesville, Virginia, Gordon (Tracy) Finger Jr. of Bowling Green, and Tiffany (Steve) Cooper of Van Wert; 11 grandchildren, Nick (Ashley) Roxo, Ashley Roxo, Krista Taylor, Trey (Amber) Bish, Joshua Bish, Nowelle Finger, Lance Wistner, Brianna Finger, Britany Finger, Kaemon Finkhousen, and Brooke Cooper; 13 great-grandchildren; and his toy Yorkie, Wonderful William.

A brother, Roger Finger; and one sister, Karen King, also preceded him in death.

Gordon was baptized Lutheran. He was a 1960 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Cuban Blockade. He was a retired chief deputy sheriff for Van Wert County. He loved to fish, collect eagles, cook pies, raise flowers, and write poetry.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with Pastor Neil Hammons officiating.

Visitation will be from noon-4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
