Workers to spray for mosquitoes in city

The City of Van Wert will be spraying for mosquitoes this weekend and has also announced the next brush pick-up date and information.

City workers will spray for mosquitoes this weekend and continue doing so, weather permitting, according to Safety-Service Director Jay Fleming.

The next brush pick-up will also begin Monday, July 9, Fleming announced.

Brush should be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. that day. The city will not pick up tree limbs larger than four inches in diameter or more than 10 feet long, and will not pick up brush left by professional tree trimmers or private contractors.

Homeowners are responsible for disposing of brush left by a trimming service, while brush in bags or boxes will also not be collected.
