Lady Lancers open 2018 golf season

Despite hot temperatures and high humidity, Lincolnview began the 2018 high school golf season by hosting the Lady Lancer Invitational at Hickory Sticks Golf Course on Monday.

The Thunderbirds of Lima Central Catholic created some heat of their own as they shattered the tournament record with a 309, which easily topped the previous record of 359 set by Lincolnview.

Wayne Trace finished as runner-up with a team score of 372, followed by Hicksville (382) and Parkway (399) and Fairview (412), followed by Antwerp (440), Delphos Jefferson (452) and Celina (479). Other teams that participated with individuals were; Lincolnview, Allen East, and Marion Local.

The Lady Lancers were led in scoring by sophomore Winter Boroff, who shot a 103. A pair of Lady Lancer freshman played in their first match – Aryonna Hoghe tallied a 113 and Adalee Purk finished with a 159.

The individual match medalist was earned by Lima Central Catholic’s Erin Mulcahy as she shot new tournament record with a two under par 70, topping the previous record of 71 held by Lincolnview’s Mikenna Klinger. The Mulcahy family also took home the runner up medalist and the third place medal – Mary Kelly Mulcahy was runner-up with a 76 and Meghan Mulcahy recorded a 78.

Hicksville’s Micah Schroeder, the defending medalist, tallied a 79 for fourth place while Wayne Trace’s Kenadie Daeger claiming the fifth medalist position with an 80.

Other top 10 scores were obtained by Lima Central Catholic’s Hannah Garver (85, 6th), Wayne Trace’s Claire Sinn (92, 7th), Lima Central Catholic’s Emma Mayers (92, 8th), Parkway’s Mecaylah Hesse (93, 9th), and Allen East’s Kasey Meyer (94, 10th).

Parkway had team members that included Hesse, Haylee Stukey (97), Autumn Ellis (98), Lauren Henderson (111), and Madison Kroeger (125).

Wayne Trace team members included Daeger, Sinn, Addie Etzler (99), and Olivia Klinker (101).
