VW netters swept by Wapakoneta

Van Wert fell to Wapakoneta 5-0 in Western Buckeye League girls’ tennis action on Thursday. It was the home opener for the Lady Cougars.

At first singles, Wapakoneta’s Maria Resendez blanked Alli Morrow 6-0, 6-0, and at second singles, Alex Bickford defeated Van Wert’s Allie Etter 6-1, 6-0. Brianna Shank topped Emma Rutkowski 6-2, 4-0 at third singles.

At first doubles, Camilila Rodriquez and Alexia McNett defeated the duo of Liv Kline and Paige Moonshower 7-5, 1-0, while at second doubles, Chloe Wetstein and Porsha Wolfrum defeated Jada Buckner and Lizzie Rutkowski 6-0, 6-3.

Van Wert will host Ottawa-Glandorf on Monday.
