Lancer baseball, softball teams top MC

MILLER CITY — Lincolnview’s baseball and softball teams enjoyed blowout wins at Miller City on Wednesday, with the baseball team posting a 10-1 victory, while the softball team cruised to a five inning, 17-1 win.

Collin Overholt and Thad Walker combined to hold the Wildcats to just five hits. Overholt pitched 3.1 innings and allowed three hits and struck out three, while Walker pitched the remaining 3.2 innings and gave up two hits while striking out five.

At the plate, Overholt and Ethan Kemler each had three hits and three RBI. Creed Jessee and Brayden Evans had two hits apiece, as the Lancers pounded out 17 hits.

A first inning single by Kemler drove in Jaden Youtsey, then a double on a bunt by Overholt in the third plated Sam Myers. Overholt went on to score on an error, and Youtsey scored on a bunt attempt by Kemler to increase the lead to 4-0.

Another double by Overholt in the sixth inning allowed Landon Price to score, then the Lancers put up five runs in the final inning. Kemler singled in Jessee, Gavin Carter drove in Kemler, Evans scored on a grounder by Price, Cole Binkley singled home Carter and Overholt knocked in Binkley with a double.

Miller City’s lone run came in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lancers (11-1), winners of 10 straight games, will play at Columbus Grove today.

The Lady Lancers broke a 1-1 tie by scoring 10 runs in the third inning and six more in the fourth.

Destiny Coil started things with a double that plated Lakin Brant and Kendall Bollenbacher, then Morgan Miller singled in Coil to make it 4-1. With two outs, a double by Jo Allen scored Miller, then three batters later, Allen and Andi Webb scored on an RBI single by Brant. Coil, who finished with three hits and seven RBI, closed the inning with a grand slam home run that scored Annie Mendenall, Brant and Bollenbacher.

In the fourth inning, Allen drove in Winter Boroff, then Webb doubled in Carly Wendel in to increase the lead to 13-1. A two-RBI double by Mendenall scored Allen and Webb, then Mendenhall scored on a home run by Brant, who had a pair of hits and four RBI.

As a team, Lincolnview had 15 hits and on the mound, Boroff pitched four innings and allowed two hits while striking out four and walking one. Bollenbacher pitched the final inning and struck out three.

Lincolnview (8-2) will play at Columbus Grove today.
