Knights explode, L’view’s Coil has 8 RBI

Crestview went 2-0 at the Lincolnview softball quad on Saturday, while the host Lady Lancers went 1-1.

The Lady Knights enjoyed an offensive explosion, defeating Fort Recovery 12-1 and Celina 12-6.

Against Fort Recovery, Hannah Binnion had two triples, three RBI and scored three runs, while Ashley Call had a triple and three RBI. Bailey Gregory, Lexi Gregory and Codi Miller each had a pair of hits.

Aleigh Chresbro, who had an RBI, picked up the win on the mound, holding Fort Recovery to six hits while striking out four and walking one.

Trailing 3-1, Crestview (9-3) exploded for eight runs in the fourth against Celina. Miller started the rally with an RBI single that scored Lexi Gregory, then Miller and Olivia Cunningham scored on a Celina error to take a 4-3 lead. After runs by Binnion and Breena Grace, a double by Cunningham plated Olivia Sketon and Caitlin O’Hagan. The final run of the inning came when Lexi Gregory scored on another Celina error.

Celina scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth, but Kali Small’s homer in the bottom of the inning scored Grace.

Cunningham and Small each finished with three hits and two RBI, and Small pitched a complete game, striking out seven.

Crestview will host Delphos Jefferson today.

Lincolnview fell to Celina 8-2, with both runs coming on a seventh inning home run by Lakin Brant, but the Lady Lancers (9-3) rebounded in a big way with an 11-5 win over Fort Recovery.

Destiny Coil accounted for eight of Lincolnview’s runs. The sophomore hit a first inning home run that scored Brant and Kendall Bollenbacher, then had a fourth inning RBI single that allowed Brant to cross home plate. Coil then secured the win with a sixth inning grand slam that scored Annie Mendenall, Brant and Bollenbacher.

Winter Boroff picked up the win on the mound by going all seven innings, allowing eight hits, while striking out five and walking six.

Lincolnview will host Bluffton today.
