Columbus Grove clamps down on Crestview

COLUMBUS GROVE — Crestview was held in check all night long, falling 47-23 to Columbus Grove in the Northwest Conference opener on Friday.

The Knights led 11-8 after the first quarter, with Kalen Etzler scoring all seven of his points in the period. The two teams combined for just nine points in the second quarter and Crestview held a 15-13 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs went on a 19-6 scoring blitz in the third quarter, including four triples by Tayt Birnesser, then Columbus Grove outscored the visitors 15-2 in the second quarter. Alex Schneider scored 11 of those points, while Crestview’s lone points came on a pair of foul shots by Carson Kreischer, who finished with a team high 10 points.

Crestview (1-3, 0-1 NWC) will travel to Fort Recovery tonight.
