Bowling: VW Lady Cougars sweep Shawnee

Van Wert improved to 3-1 by defeating Shawnee 2393-2261 at Olympic Lanes on Monday.

The Lady Cougars had solid performances from everyone, starting with Lorrie Decker, who led the team with a 387 series (188, 199). Makenna Nagel came off the bench to roll a 177 game, while Makenzie Bowers rolled a 165 and Katie Hauter chipped in with a 160 game.

In the five baker game set, Tiarra Rhodes came off the bench and delivered a solid performance to help keep the Shawnee squad at bay.

The junior varsity squad picked up their first win of the season by defeating Shawnee 1577-1212.

Van Wert will host defending Division II state champion St. Marys Memorial at 5 p.m. next Monday.
