Lady Knights roll past Ft. Jennings 67-34

CONVOY — Bailey Gregory scored 19 points, including 11 in the first quarter, and the Crestview Lady Knights raced past visiting Fort Jennings 67-34 in non-conference action on Monday night.

Gregory set the tone early by hitting five baskets in the opening period, with one of those a quick triple, as Crestview (3-4) opened up a 22-13 lead. She scored five more in the second quarter and older sister Lexi added seven to boost the lead to 40-23 at halftime.

Lexi Gregory, who finished with 18 points, drilled three treys in the third quarter and Lisa Etzler added a pair of baskets, including a three pointer, to help the Lady Knights extend their advantage to 56-23 at the end of the period. Etzler ended the night with nine points.

Olivia Cunningham added five of her 10 points in the fourth quarter, as Crestview enjoyed an 11-4 scoring advantage in the period. Defensively, the Lady Knights held the Musketeers to just 11 points in the second half.

“I thought our energy was great tonight for 32 minutes,” Crestview head coach Mark Gregory said. “We shot the ball really well which was great to see. I’m very proud of our group as a whole.”

Crestview shot 50 percent from the floor (28-56) and the Lady Knights enjoyed a 27-23 edge in rebounding. The Musketeers were 14-33 from the field (42 percent) and had 27 turnovers.

Kristen Luersman led Fort Jennings with 16 points and four rebounds.

Crestview won the junior varsity game 30-15.

The Lady Knights will play at Bluffton on Thursday and at Kalida on Saturday.
