Jessee, Lancers too much for Spencerville

Creed Jesseeā€™s 20 points led Lincolnview to a 53-45 Northwest Conference win over visiting Spencerville on Friday night.

The Lancers (3-1, 1-0 NWC) found themselves trailing 15-12 after one quarter, but a 13-8 second quarter scoring advantage gave Lincolnview a 25-23 halftime advantage. A 16 point third quarter gave the hosts a 41-37 lead, then the Lancers clamped down defensively in the final period by holding the Bearcats to just eight points.

Clayton Leeth and Jake Bowersock each added seven points for Lincolnview, Landon Price and Garrett Richardson scored six each and Collin Overholt finished with five.

As a team, the Lancers were 19-43 from the floor (44 percent), including 8-17 from three point range. In addition, Lincolnview hit 7-10 free throws and pulled down 14 rebounds, while committing just eight turnovers.

Josh Henline led Spencerville (1-6, 0-2 NWC) with 16 points and Jackson Goecke added 11. The Bearcats were 17-34 from the field and 6-17 from the foul line with 20 rebounds and 16 turnovers.

Spencerville will host Kalida tonight, while the Lancers will entertain Fort Jennings.
