Mary J. Agler

Mary J. Agler, 78, of Van Wert, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday December 23, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.

She was born March 1, 1941, in Van Wert, the daughter of Clarence “Bud” and Ruby (Johnson) Murphy, who both preceded her in death. On October 24, 1964, she married James Paul Agler, who died October 2, 2011.

Survivors include a son, Eric W. (Jennifer Rhea) Agler of Columbia City, Indiana; two daughters, Pauletta M. (Ron) Hohlbein of Delphos and Allison R. Hammond of Van Wert; one sister, Dottie Bowers of Convoy; a brother, Bobby (Jill) Murphy of Poland (Ohio); nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Dottie Ann and Helen.

Two brothers, Danny Murphy and Harold E. Murphy; and a son-in-law, Eric Hammond, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, December 27, at Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert, with her brother, Pastor Bobby Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.  

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, December 26, Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Preferred memorials: Trinity Friends Church.
