Girls hoops: Van Wert County teams fall

Lincolnview and Crestview suffered Northwest Conference road losses on Thursday, while Van Wert fell at home to perennial Western Buckeye League power Ottawa-Glandorf.

Bluffton 55 Lincolnview 38

BLUFFTON — The Lady Pirates pulled away in the third quarter on the way to a 55-38 NWC win over Lincolnview on Thursday.

Leading 25-18 at halftime, Bluffton outscored the Lady Lancers 16-7 in the third quarter to go up 41-25 at the end of the period.

Kendall Bollenbacher led Lincolnview (0-14, 0-4 NWC) with 11 points, while Brianna Ebel finished with nine. Zadria King had a team high six rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Lady Lancers were 15 of 36 (42 percent) from the floor and 6 of 9 from the free throw line, with 21 rebounds.

Libby Schaadt led Bluffton (10-3, 4-1 NWC) with a double-double, 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Laykin Garmatter added 18 points. The Lady Pirates were 21 of 49 (43 percent) from the floor and 10 of 14 from the foul line with 26 rebounds, including 13 offensive rebounds.

Lincolnview will host Parkway on Tuesday.

Delphos Jefferson 54 Crestview 50

DELPHOS — Crestview’s Olivia Cunningham scored 21, but Delphos Jefferson rallied to defeat the Lady Knights 54-50 on Thursday night.

Crestview hit four treys in the first quarter and enjoyed a 16-9 lead, before the hosts outpaced the Lady Knights 16-2 in the second quarter for a 22-18 lead. The game was tied 32-32 entering the fourth quarter, but Delphos Jefferson hit 12 of 14 free throws in the final period to help secure the win. Cunningham connected on three of her five triples in the fourth quarter.

Bailey Gregory and Lexi Gregory each scored eight points for Crestview (6-8, 2-3 NWC). Addy Stewart led Delphos Jefferson with 18 points, while Delaney Deuel scored 10. Kaylee Buzzard and Josie McGue each added 10 for the Wildcats.

Crestview will host Van Wert on Monday and Delphos Jefferson (7-7, 3-1 NWC) will travel to Wayne Trace on Tuesday.

Ottawa-Glandorf 42 Van Wert 29

Van Wert and Ottawa-Glandorf were tied 14-14 at halftime, but the Lady Titans controlled things after that in a 42-29 victory on Thursday.

The Lady Cougars led 12-5 after one quarter, with half of Van Wert’s points coming from Jaylyn Rickard, who went on to finish with nine.

The second quarter was a different story, as Ottawa-Glandorf outscored the hosts 9-2, then in the third quarter, Brianna Schimoeller hit a pair of treys, Maggie Verhoff scored five and Jasmine Rich added four to help give the Lady Titans a 32-20 lead at the end of the period.

Schimmoeller tacked on seven more points in the fourth quarter and finished with a game high 19 points, while Sofi Houg scored four of her team leading 10 points in the period.

It was the 33rd consecutive WBL win for Ottawa-Glandorf (12-1, 5-0 WBL).

Van Wert (3-11, 1-4 WBL) will travel to Crestview on Monday.
