JA seeks county school program support

VW independent/submitted information

Junior Achievement of Van Wert County is kicking off its annual campaign, with fundraising letters being sent out to business and community leaders requesting their support for the Junior Achievement mission: promoting financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship.

Junior Achievement of Van Wert County currently reaches over 1,500 students at Van Wert, Lincolnview, Crestview, and St. Mary of the Assumption schools.

The total annual cost of programing is approximately $30,000, raised entirely through the generous contributions of local business and community leaders. Programming consists of hands-on classroom entrepreneurial instruction, as well as fifth and eighth grade field trips to JA Biztown and JA Finance Park, where students explore community economics, business management, personal financial literacy, and money management skills.

Sponsors are needed for 45 classroom programs with a cost of $400 per class, four JA Biztown trips costing $1,800 per visit, and three JA Finance Park trips each costing $1,350.

To ensure that JA of Van Wert County is able to continue to offer these programs to county students, as well as explore programming opportunities for additional grade levels, the organization is seeking local businesses with which to form partnerships through volunteers and monetary donations.

Those who want to support JA of Van Wert County at any sponsorship level should contact Whitney Sealscott at whitney@sealscottcpa.com or 419.238.5221 for more information. Gifts can also be made online at www.jani.org and clicking on “Donate Now”.

To make sure a donation supports local JA programs, direct donations to “Van Wert County (Ohio). Campaign letter forms can also be mailed to Thaison Leaser, treasurer, P.O. Box 224, Van Wert, OH 45891.

The JA Board thanks all businesses, past and present, for their continued support in delivering the highly impactful Junior Achievement programming to county students.
