Robert E. Strunkenburg

Robert E. “Bob” Strunkenburg, 68, of Van Wert, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2020, at Lima Memorial Hospital. 

He was born March 23, 1951, in Convoy, the son of David Charles and Lillian (Boroff) Strunkenburg, who both preceded him in death. On March 24, 1973, he married the love of his life, Jane Snyder, who survives in Van Wert.

After retiring from Teleflex Corporation after 37 years, Bob went on to work as a custodian for Van Wert City Schools. He was an avid Michigan Wolverines fan and enjoyed watching college sports and camping. Bob adored his grandchildren and never missed any of their sporting events. 

Other survivors include a son, Richard E. Strunkenburg of Van Wert; two daughters, Amanda (Michael) Lichtle of Van Wert and Karen (Curtis Miller) Strunkenburg of Middle Point; three sisters, Barbara Anderson of Convoy, Linda Germann of Ohio City, and Sue Moyer of Mason; 14 grandchildren, Breanna, Bailey, Braxton, Steven, Natalie, Natasha, Kennedy, Nathan, Emily, Kaleb, Alex, Sidney, Madeline, and Jasmine; a great-grandson, Ryker; and many nieces and nephews.

Two brothers-in-law, Don Anderson and David Germann. and a nephew, Tim Anderson, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County. 

Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 20, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert`s memory may be made to the family or a charity of the donor’s choice.
