W. Sue Dowler

W. Sue Dowler, 74, of Van Wert, passed away at 4:24 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born October 27, 1945, in Van Wert, the daughter of Elmo and Ellen (Shepherd) Carroll, who both preceded her in death. On August 25, 2004, she married Larry Dowler, who survives.

Other survivors include her children, Dana Carroll of Indian Lake, Brenda Gilbert of Payne, Tina (Greg) Broyles of St. Marys, Billy Jo Taylor of Oklahoma, and Jesse D. (Christie) Perez Jr. of Convoy; two stepchildren, Bruce (Ruth) Dowler of Convoy and Kathy Dettrow of Van Wert; a brother, Eddie Carroll of Van Wert; three sisters, Colleen (Jim) Stutteville of Middle Point, Nancy (Louis) King of Delphos, and Faye Trinosky of Van Wert; and several grandchildren.

A son, John David Taylor; one sister, Peggy Jo Burnett; and five brothers, Herschel Eugene, Kerry Lee, Barry Lynn, Jimmie Ray, and Billy Joe Carroll, also preceded her in death.

Sue had worked as a home health aide and had attended the former Christian Life Assembly of God in Van Wert.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Visitation is from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, at the funeral home.
