Portraits Made Easy, an introductory class taught by Gabriel Yahl, will be held at Wassenberg Art Center, beginning in February.

Soups vs. Soups! Sign up for this “souper” competition open to both amateur chefs and the pros! Following the Main Street Van Wert Chocolate Walk on February 7, we open our doors to the tired, the cold, the hungry and offer hot, yummy soups. You get to choose your favorite!

We will also be pairing chocolates and wine (in case you haven’t had enough). We will have live music by Jimmy Holbrook (solo). A $10 entry fee is required. Winner will receive some cash, a bragging trophy, a Wass mug and glowing recognition.

Free entry to the art center as always. To enter email: info@wassenbergart-center.org or call: 419.238.6837.

The Ohio Watercolor Society Exhibit is currently underway through February 2. The Ohio Watercolor Society is the first installment in our “Watercolor Winter”. Following the competitive Ohio group, we will showcase the American Watercolor Society. AWS can feature some of the same Ohio artists who have advanced to the national level of competition. Soak up the color to brighten your winter.

We are on our third round of wassenBoxes and have been having a great time dreaming up all of the themes. Each box is designed and created by Wassenberg staff, so your box is truly unique.  This is a great way to supplement declining art programming in a convenient way. The wassenBox, is a home delivery craft kit for young people. Each month, the kit arrives in the mail with complete supplies, a welcome sticker poster and a specially designed activity book unique to each kit. Crafts for two separate age groups are available, ages 3–7 and 7 and up. Kits are designed as gender neutral. Sign up anytime at $22 per month. wassenBox automatically renews until you cancel. Sign up here: www.wassenbergartcenter.org. or call 419.238.6837.

If your young artist prefers hands on, students can sign up for our ArtReach after school art program any month and stop if schedules become hectic then sign up again when convenient! With cooped up winter coming on, art can be a great outlet! This art program also provides much needed support in the arts which assist a myriad of academics, like improved math and critical thinking skills.
