Big night for VW County girls hoops

Thursday night was a good one for girls basketball teams from Crestview, Lincolnview and Van Wert, as all three teams posted victories.

Crestview 75 Ada 39

CONVOY — Bailey Gregory set a Crestview single game record for three pointers and the Lady Knights had no trouble with Ada, winning 75-39 on Thursday night.

Gregory hit eight treys, including five in the second quarter alone on the way to a 26 point game. As a team, Crestview connected on 12 of 20 shots from beyond the arc.

The Lady Knights led 13-11 after the first quarter, then exploded for 28 points in the second quarter, including Gregory’s barrage from outside, along with eight points from Lexi Gregory and five from Laci McCoy, to take a 41-15 halftime lead. L. Gregory finished with 19 points and McCoy also cracked double digits with 11.

Crestview led 51-31 entering the fourth quarter, where Olivia Cunningham scored seven of her 13 points and B. Gregory added two more triples.

Courtney Sumner led Ada (5-11, 0-5 NWC) with 14 points.

Crestview (8-8, 3-3 NWC) will return to action Tuesday at Antwerp.

Lincolnview 51 Allen East 34

The Lady Lancers raced out to a 14-1 first quarter lead and never really looked back in a 51-34 win over Allen East on Thursday.

It was the second straight win and the first Northwest Conference victory for Lincolnview (2-14, 1-4 NWC).

Lana Carey scored five points and Kendall Bollenbacher added four in the opening period, then the Lady Lancers extended the lead to 20-1 with a 6-0 run to start the second quarter. Carey hit a pair of treys in the period and Lincolnview enjoyed a 33-11 halftime lead.

Allen East (3-10, 1-4 NWC) outscored the hosts 16-5 in the third quarter, but Lincolnview won the fourth quarter scoring battle 13-7, with six points coming from Bollenbacher and four more from Annie Mendenhall.

Carey finished with 14 points, while Bollenbacher and Jordan Decker each scored 10. Mendenhall chipped in with nine points, six assists and four rebounds.

Allen East’s Tori Newland led all scorers with 22 points.

Lincolnview will host Delphos St. John’s on Tuesday.

Van Wert 39 Shawnee 37

LIMA — Van Wert won a tight Western Buckeye League game on the road, defeating Shawnee 39-37 on Thursday.

The Lady Cougars trailed 3-2 after one quarter, but led 16-14 at halftime, thanks to four points each by Jerica Huebner, Sofi Houg and Emilee Phillips. Jaylyn Rickard drained a pair of treys and Alli Schaufelberger hit three baskets to help Van Wert extend the lead to 30-26 after three quarters.

Shawnee’s Aaliyah Fowler scored nine of her 15 points in the fourth quarter, while Rickard connected for seven points and finished with 13 on the night. Huebner, Houg, Phillips and Kyra Welch each added four points for the Lady Cougars.

Van Wert (4-12, 2-4 WBL) will host Fairview on Tuesday.
