VW, Lincolnview fall, Crestview wins

Fairview used a fourth quarter surge to defeat Van Wert, Delphos St. John’s held Lincolnview in check and Crestview clamped down against Antwerp in girls’ non-conference basketball action on Tuesday.

Fairview 42 Van Wert 31

Fairview outscored Van Wert 14-3 in the fourth quarter on the way to a 42-31 win over the Lady Cougars on Tuesday.

The game was tied 28-28 entering the final period, but Fairview’s Allison Rhodes scored six of her 10 points in the fourth quarter, while Kiersten Cline and Riley Mealer each scored three. Mealer finished with a game high 14 points.

Van Wert led 11-9 after the first quarter, but trailed 28-17 at halftime. The Lady Cougars outscored the visitors 11-4 in the third quarter, but Fairview (13-5) held Van Wert to just three free throws in the final stanza.

Allison Schauffelberger and Jamison Clouse each scored eight for the Lady Cougars, while Jaylyn Rickard finished with seven.

Van Wert (4-13) will host Kenton on Thursday.

Delphos St. John’s 61 Lincolnview 29

Led by Hannah Will, Delphos St. John’s had three players in double figures in a 61-29 victory over Lincolnview on Tuesday.

Will finished with 17 points and five rebounds, Paige Gaynier had 14 points and six assists and Melanie Koenig tallied 11 points and five rebounds. Aubrie Friemoth chipped in with nine points and Delphos St. John’s (8-11) finished 22-46 from the floor and 11-16 from the free throw line with 25 rebounds and six turnovers.

The Blue Jays led 17-11 after one quarter then extended the lead to 31-19 at halftime and 46-25 after three quarters of action.

Lana Carey, Jordan Decker and Annie Mendenhall each had five points for Lincolnview, while Brianna Ebel, Mckayla Blackemeyer and Zadria King each finished with four points. The Lady Lancers were 13-41 from the floor and 1-7 from the foul line with 24 rebounds and 21 turnovers.

Lincolnview (2-15) will play at Delphos Jefferson on Thursday.

Crestview 51 Antwerp 35

ANTWERP — The Lady Knights held Antwerp to just 11 second half points in a 51-35 non-conference win on Tuesday.

Olivia Cunningham hit a pair of treys in the first quarter and Crestview led 13-11 at the end of the period, then Antwerp’s Heather Oberlin scored six of her 10 points in the second quarter, and the two teams were tied 24-24 at halftime.

The Lady Knights outscored Antwerp 14-5 in the third quarter and 13-6 in the fourth quarter to improve to 9-8 on the season.

Lexi Gregory led all scorers with 14 points, with 10 of those coming in the first half. Cunningham scored 11, Bailey Gregory finished with eight, and Brenna Grace and Laci McCoy each finished with five points.

Crestview will play at Lima Central Catholic on Thursday, while Antwerp will host Tinora the same night.
