VW Airport receives share of Komets event

On Saturday January 18, The Van Wert Area Chamber of Commerce and Van Wert County Regional Airport partnered with the Fort Wayne Komets to present a “Van Wert County a Community Night” at the Memorial Coliseum.
“The Star-Spangled Banner” was sung by local a capella men’s group The Merry Gentlemen, Van Wert Mayor Ken Markward; Van Wert County Regional Airport Manager Steve Bailey and his wife, Jill; Chamber of Commerce President Mark Verville and his son, Ben; and Chamber of Commerce Office Administrator Brandy Leiber and her son, Preston, dropped the puck to start the game between the Toledo Mudhens and Fort Wayne Komets.
Proceeds from the event were split equally between the Chamber and the airport, with the airport’s share of proceeds going to support its airport expansion project. The Komets graciously made an additional donation based on attendance, which is included in a check that was presented to the Van Wert County Regional Airport.
