Bernard Max Baldwin

Bernard Max “Bernie” Baldwin, 88, of Van Wert, passed away at 9:57 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Van Wert Manor.

He was born December 19, 1931, in Van Wert, the son of Eldon Max and Zelma Elizabeth (Stemen) Baldwin, who both preceded him in death. On September 18, 1981, Bernie married the love of his life, the former Sandra Lee, who survives. Together, they shared many years of memories.

Bernie retired as a truck driver for Tecumseh Trucking. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, and watching the Cowboy Channel. He also had a passion for horses and loved carpentry work. 

He is survived by his wife, Sandy of Van Wert; six children, Cynthia Baldwin-Wallace, Barry Baldwin, and Scott Baldwin, all of Van Wert, Todd (Buffy) Baldwin of Findlay, Troy Baldwin of Van Wert, and Kevin Baldwin of California; three stepchildren, Cerina (Phil) Burke of Coldwater, David (Kim) Butler of Scott, and Shellie Butler of Van Wert; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Bernie was also preceded in death by a son, Brent Baldwin; and one sister, Joan Lindeman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at First United Brethren in Christ Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Jody Harr officiating.
