Parolee arrested for Brookside robbery

The Van Wert Police Department has arrested a recent prison parolee for an armed robbery that occurred Friday evening at the Brookside Drive-Thru on West Ervin Road.

Anthony J. Hoskinson, 46, was arrested on a preliminary charge of aggravated robbery, with the case then being turned over to the Van Wert County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of any additional charges.

The VWPD received a 9-1-1 call of an armed robbery in progress at the drive-thru at approximately 7 p.m. Friday, with the caller reporting that a white male had entered the store on foot, brandished a weapon, and demanded cash from the clerk. After receiving cash, he then fled the store.

City police officers, with the assistance of the Van Wert Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 team, conducted an investigation that led to a trailer on Olympic Drive behind Brookside Drive-Thru. Further investigation led to the arrest of Hoskinson, who was just released from prison in September and is currently on parole.

Hoskinson will also likely face additional charges for assaulting an officer, who was reportedly not injured.
