PAULDING — Lincolnview stormed back from a slow start to win the regular season finale 53-39 over Paulding on Friday.

Paulding jumped out to an 8-0 lead and the Lancers trailed 11-4 after one quarter but exploded for 21 second quarter points and led 25-21 at halftime.

“I thought the kids played hard tonight,” Lincolnview head coach Brett Hammons said. “We found a way to hang on early when we were struggling on the offensive end.”

Lincolnview (11-11, 6-2 NWC) went to work in the second quarter, with Jake Bowersock scoring seven of his game high 15 points in the period, while Collin Overholt put in seven of his 10 points in the quarter. Seth Dysinger scored eight of Paulding’s 10 points in the period.

The Lancer defense held Paulding (6-16, 2-6 NWC) to just six points in the third quarter on three pointers by Blake McGarvey and Kaden Sarver. Meanwhile, Bowersock, and Creed Jessee combined for six unanswered points to give Lincolnview a 36-24 lead.

“We did a good job of getting the ball inside in the second and third quarters and getting the game to a pace that we like to play,” Hammons said. “The kids got after it on the defensive end of the floor and made things difficult for Paulding. Our communication was good and I thought we did a good job of contesting shots.”

Lincolnview enjoyed a 17-12 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter, with Aaron Cavinder knocking down a pair of triples.

Paulding was 15-51 (29 percent) from the floor and just 2-6 from the foul line with 12 turnovers and 24 rebounds. McGarvey led the Panthers with 13 points, while Dysinger and Peyton Beckman each scored 10.

The Lancers were 21-41 shooting and 7-9 from the free throw line with 24 rebounds and just nine turnovers. In addition to Bowersock’s 15 points, Overholt and Jessee each scored 10 and Cavinder and Clayton Leeth each added eight.

Paulding will face Lima Central Catholic at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Division III sectional semifinals at Lima Sr., and Lincolnview will play Miller City 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Division IV sectional semifinals at Van Wert.
