St. Mary’s sets kindergarten screening

St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School will be conducting a kindergarten readiness screening for children who will be 5 years old by September 30 on Tuesday, March 3; Monday, March 9; or Tuesday, March 10, between 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Children will be assessed using the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning, Fourth Edition (DIAL-4). The DIAL-4 program assesses children in the areas of speech and language, gross and fine motor skills, cognition, self-help, and social-emotional skills. The screening process usually takes between 45 minutes and an hour.

The assessment gives parents an opportunity to see how their children are progressing, in relationship to children of the same age, in skills necessary for kindergarten.

To set up a screening appointment, call the St. Mary’s School office at 419.238.5186 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Time slots are limited and are on a first come, first served basis.
