Convoy Opera House to host Woody Wright

VW independent/submitted information

CONVOY — The Convoy Opera House will present Woody Wright in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 18. Tickets are $10 per seat, with all seating reserved, and can be obtained by calling Dave Thomas at 260.639.2083.

Plan to spend the evening in the newly restored Convoy Opera House at 111 S. Main St. in Convoy, and bring family and friends for an evening of great music and entertainment.

“Woody is my friend, a wonderful writer and communicator of the Good News,” said legendary Gospel singer Bill Gaither.

“Woody Wright has it all: he sings, he writes, he’s funny, and he’ll touch your heart,” said Mark Lowry.

To Wright, his most important accomplishment is the Gospel group he formed in high school singing throughout the Southern states. He sang with Ponder, Sykes, & Wright  and a number of Country groups, including Matthews, Wright, and King, who toured with Reba McEntire and other big-name country stars and recorded on the Columbia label.

He joined the Gaithers and performed on the Gaither Homecoming video series and has been featured at venues from the fellowship hall at rural churches to the grand stages of Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Grand Ole Opry.

A Woody Wright concert event is more than just a guy with a guitar and a briefcase of songs. His flow of humor, stories, and finely tuned musical messages leave the audience with a fresh take on everyday life, a sense of forgiveness to overcome the past, and the bright look toward tomorrow

When his wife, Vonnie, joins Woody on the platform, their bond and commitment combine to become a beacon for “spares and pairs” in the audience.

The program is appealing to all ages, blending traditional Gospel, Country, and Americana music with his original material and various inspirational songs. Wright’s most important accomplishment is surely his ability to use musical experience and gifting to entertain and encourage everyone.
