Humane Society sets Dogs & Donuts event

VW independent/submitted information

On Saturday, April 11, staring at noon, the Van Wert County Humane Society will hold a “Dogs and Donuts Fun Walk.” The event will take place after the annual Easter Dog Bone Hunt at the Community Dog Park.

Registration for the event is $25 and is taking place now at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/dogs-donuts-fun-walk-tickets-93525325767. Those who register by March 20 will receive a Dogs and Donuts Fun Walk t-shirt, coffee or hot chocolate and doughnuts after the walk, a goodie bag with treats for their dogs, and a chance to win a dog gift basket. There will also be a photo opportunity after the walk for owners and their dogs.

Those participating must register by March 20 to receive a Dogs and Donuts t-shirt. Registration the day of the event is $10 and does not include a t-shirt. All people who walk with a dog must register (with the exception of children under 12).

This first-ever event aims to raise money for the Van Wert County Humane Society. Humane Society Board Member Kirsten Barnhart said that the event is also an excellent way to connect dog-lovers with each other.

“This event is happening right after the Easter Bone Hunt, so dog lovers can participate in two fun activities with their furry pals right in a row,” said Barnhart. “The Dogs and Donuts Fun Walk gives residents a chance to meet other dog lovers in the community, while participating in a great, healthy activity.”

The walk will start on the reservoir trail by the Van Wert Community Dog Park. Walkers will walk around Reservoir One and may also walk around Reservoir Two if they choose. The event will end back at the Dog Park.

Sponsors for the event include The Times-Bulletin, Lininger Bros. Auto Repair, Tisha Fast State Farm Agency, Anytime Fitness, Dirt Divas Off-Road, Shine Auto Detailing, Pet Valu, Midwest Sportswear, and Truly Divine. Businesses that would like to become a sponsor for this event can contact Barnhart at kbarnhart@timesbulletin.com.
