City Building to close, CH to limit access

The City of Van Wert is announcing the closure of the Municipal Building to the general public until further notice, starting Wednesday, March 18.  

This is in response to actions taken by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus. City residents will be able to make their utility and tax payments through the drop box located on the west side of the Municipal Building. 

The city will remain fully staffed in order to ensure continuation of services. Contact the Municipal Building at 419.238.1237 with any questions or need assistance.  

Those who submit tax payments or return at the drive-thru should make sure their full name and phone number are on the outside of the envelope in case they need to be contacted. Any questions can be directed to the Tax Office at 419.238.6020.

Those who need emergency assistance should use the north entrance and a dispatcher will admit them to either the Fire or Police department.   

In addition, the Parks Department (Gleason Avenue) office will also be closed. Call in to register for any park programs at 419.238.9121.

In addition, due to the threat of the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), access to the Van Wert County Courthouse will be limited, effective Wednesday, March 18, until Ohio Governor Mike DeWine lifts his declared state of emergency.

All hearings at the Van Wert County Common Pleas Court will continue as scheduled, but those who have other business at the Courthouse should call the individual department they need to either take care of their business via telephone or schedule a time to be let in to the Courthouse.
