Gary Scott Myers

Gary Scott Myers, 56, of Middle Point, passed away at 6:39 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, in the Van Wert Health Emergency Room.

Gary Scott Myers

He was born April 20, 1963, in Lima, the son of Gary F. and Judith Ann (Graham) Myers, who both survive. On November 19, 1999, he married the love of his life, the former Jennie L. Dockery. Together, they shared 20 years of marriage.

Scott was a 1982 graduate of Vantage Career Center and attended Lincolnview High School. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines.

Scott worked as a driver for Tecumseh before working for 3 Sons Towing, Hauling, and Salvage. He was an avid drag car racer for Myers Racing. As an experienced mechanic, Scott would often rebuild engines and build cars for others. He also enjoyed building model cars. Known for his wicked sense of humor, he could always make you laugh, and never sugar-coated what he had to say.

Scott was also a current member of Middle Point Village Council. He was a loving husband, devoted grandfather, and loved his family immensely.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie L. Myers of Middle Point; three children, Tyler Myers of Van Wert, and Tara Jo Myers and Amber Myers, both of Lima; two stepchildren, James (Kristie) Delno of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Barbie (Natasha Bloom) Delno of Flint, Michigan; a brother, Clint (Sherry) Myers of Van Wert; three sisters, Greta Nettleton of Emmitsburg, Maryland; Amy Myers of Van Wert, and Debbie (Kevin) Potts of Sunbury; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Rylea, Landon, Gavin, Brennon, Aubrin, Jenna and Jackie; his lifelong friends, Brian Brown, Pat Brincefield, and Kelly and John Rist, all of Middle Point; as well as his one-eyed cat, Melvie.

Scott was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Harold Myers, Helen Vasquez, and Roger and Mitzie Graham, as well as a brother-in-law, Timothy Nettleton.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at the Middle Point Community Building, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 that afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Scott’s memory may be sent to Jennie Myers for the continued care of their custodial grandchildren, Brennon and Aubrin.
